Homegrown Housing
Locally led. Expert Supported. Community Built.
Not every affordable housing idea is ready to break ground, but many deserve the chance to grow.
Anchorum’s Homegrown Housing program is a new initiative designed to help communities in Northern New Mexico explore bold, locally driven housing solutions. Up to eight project-based teams—made up of nonprofit organizations, community leaders, and housing advocates—will be selected to take part in a cohort-based program that combines technical assistance and peer support to develop affordable housing projects. Cohort members will also have the opportunity to apply for early-stage predevelopment grants after completion of the program.
This training will help communities more quickly identify feasible financial models and development strategies most likely to succeed in the current funding environment and are in a landscape where public funding for predevelopment resources are scarce. This program significantly increases the likelihood of communities identifying feasible, community-centered housing projects.
This initiative also has the potential to lay the groundwork for something broader: the beginning of an informal housing coalition across Northern New Mexico, where ideas, lessons, and leadership can be shared for the long haul.
What You’ll Receive:
- Five, hands-on, cohort-based training sessions held every 4-6 weeks (1.5 day sessions). Expected start date of August 2025.
- Access to technical experts in housing development, planning, and finance.
- Peer learning and connection across project-based teams.
- A safe space to try, adapt, and even fail forward. Because understanding what doesn’t work is part of building what does.
- The opportunity upon completion of the program to apply for small predevelopment grants to help further your community’s development project.
Application Process:
Just fill out the simple Google Form application by 5pm MT on June 24, 2025. Applicants will be notified if they have been accepted into the program on or by July 8th.
